Book Review Thursday: Lost Legacy: A Zoe Chambers Mystery by Annette Dashofy

It’s Book Review Thursday. Come back each week to get a peek inside what authors I love and what storylines inspire me.

Lost Legacy by Annette Dashofy

LOST LEGACY front sm fileParamedic Zoe Chambers and her partner answer a 911 call about a farm accident, but instead they find a body hanging in the barn. It isn’t the sight of the body that bothers her; it’s the fact that this very same barn was the site of a murder/suicide over forty years ago.

With the help of police chief, Pete Adams, Zoe begins to look into the victim’s life when she learns he has a connection to her family. The arrival of her mother and stepdad cause unexpected and hostile complications. Throw in Pete’s father, Harry, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, and Zoe has her hands full. When her landlord is shot and left for dead in his barn, Pete worries that someone could be coming after Zoe to stop her investigation.

The body count rises, and Harry suddenly disappears. It’s up to Zoe to figure out the truth and find Harry…without getting either of them killed.

This was a wonderful mystery that had my guessing almost to the end. Once I figured it out, I held my breath until the thrilling conclusion. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I loved Harry, and I hope he makes another appearance! I enjoyed Lost Legacy as much as the first Zoe Chambers mystery, Circle of Influence, which made the USA Today bestsellers’ list last week. I can’t wait for the next one, Bridges Burned, to come out next April!

Author:

I have always loved to read, and carry a book with me wherever I go. I’ve written for several online sites, doing book reviews and author interviews. After graduating in 2000 from West Texas A&M with a Bachelor’s degree, I was a teacher for a while before deciding my destiny was to write, not to mold young minds. Writing for me is like taking an exciting journey, or going on a welty, as my parents say. I don’t know where my stories are going to take me. I just hang on and enjoy the ride.
